HOW TO COOK A PERFECT HARD BOILED EGG

One of the basic things that almost everybody can cook in the kitchen is a hard boiled egg. However, I’m pretty sure that many don’t do it correctly or at least efficiently.

Perhaps some of you might be saying right now -what are you talking about? I normally do it this way or that way and they turn out OK. However, I would like to ask you… but how do they turn out really? For example I’m sure that some times you cannot peel the shell of the egg properly, the shell cracks when you boil it or the egg comes up very dry because it is over boiled. For all of you that would like to avoid these outcomes here I’m posting the steps to follow for a perfect hard boiled egg.

In this case we are going to boil two eggs. Besides the eggs, we need a deep sauce pan with a lid and of course water.

  • Place the eggs in the sauce pan.
  • Pour cold water in the sauce pan until covering the eggs by 1 inch.
  • Place the saucepan on the stove at high heat. When the water is at full boil, remove the sauce pan from the heat and put the lid on.
  • Let it steam for 15 minutes.
  • Then, empty the water in the saucepan and pour cold water in to cool the eggs. You can also add ice to the water to expedite this process or to get the eggs even colder.
  • The eggs are ready to peel and eat.

With this method, in addition to avoiding the outcomes mentioned above, you will also be saving gas / electricity.
