HELLO, THIS IS MY BLOG!

There are two things in life that have inspired me other than life itself: music and food. With respect to music, my mother tells me that when I was just a toddler that could barely walk there was a flamenco show on TV. Out of the blue, I started dancing with such grace– this is according to her- that she was rendered speechless. I never danced again but I did sing and this I continue to do today. Regarding food, my mother also reminds me! Normally you have to push children to eat and finish their plate. In my case, my mother had to take the plate away from me to stop me from eating.

In fact, food and music are so integrated in my family that they are present at any party worth its salt and at the same time, in the case of the food, even an indicator of your health. Please let me explain. – Madam, how is your husband’s health? My husband's appetite is great-.  In this case, this lady’s husband’s health is excellent.

In my grandparents’ and parents’ generations, women were generally  the ones in charge of the kitchen. When I was a child, I was fascinated watching how they cooked  and asking what was the next ingredient to add or the next step to follow in their recipe. However, unlike singing, I never threw myself into cooking except on rare occasions and then only with easy dishes that I could muddle through.

The turning point in my cooking happened when I left my village in Spain and came here to live in the US. Just in a few weeks I met the person who is now my husband and taking the plunge, I left my country with him. Then the phrase “mommy is cooking today” changed to “what are we cooking today?” In this process, an odd thing happened to me. I don’t know if this has happened to any of you too; what started as a necessity transformed into a pleasure. Nowadays I enjoy cooking as much as tasting a good dish. The cuisine, more than ever, has turned into a must-visit attraction on my trips.

Welcome to my blog, where you’ll find life, music and food… well and a little bit of something to drink of course… Cheers!
